Sometimes, the subject of top digital marketing trends is murky and unclear, but I've spent time reflecting on what, in my experience, are the critical, must-know trends to stay abreast of entering the year 2025. I've identified three top trends to know and learn about, including artificial intelligence (AI), social media, and evergreen content, which must be unpacked and tested person-to-person.

  1. Artificial Intellgience (AI)

According to Josh Hewarth in 2025, CEO of Exploding Topics, a majority (over 50%) of marketing specialists already use AI in their work regularly. Read any technology-focused forum, and artificial intelligence will be a trending topic of discussion. AI has its benefits and usages, so it might be worthwhile to read up and learn basic ways it can support a marketing career. Its applications can be as simple as aiding smaller tasks, including getting help with writing emails, and it can help with larger tasks, including campaign automation. Sometimes, I use Grammarly to double-check copy, and while it doesn't replace having a grasp of grammar and writing rules, it helps with the typos. While it may be easy to resist learning new technologies, AI can help marketers of all kinds streamline tasks and ease workloads on their teammates.

  2. Social Media

Secondly, social media remains a top trend in 2025 for digital marketing professionals to have in their arsenal. Platforms including Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn, and Reddit are particularly influential. According to a Meta report in 2022, Meta boasts 2 billion daily users, and according to a report by Naveen Kumar on Demandsage in 2025, about 500 million people use Instagram daily. Think about how many potential connections are missed without any social media for your organization. Based on my experience in social media strategy, I don't recommend using them all at once, but rather picking and choosing platforms that work the best for your organization and business to communicate its brand, services, and goals best!

While on the subject, I'd like to offer my social media strategy and copywriting services. I can help organizations across diverse industries with their online presence, and I'm happy to schedule a free meeting and consultation using my online portal about projects or opportunities.

  3. Evergreen Content

I enjoy to read and write, so I'll admit slight bias at play. However, good written material has staying power, which can translate into staying power for a brand. In my view, good writing communicates trust, reliability, and dependability to customers. What makes "evergreen" content different from regular content is that it builds engagement over time rather than short-term. Businesses can ensure their content meets the criteria for being "evergreen" by carefully choosing subjects to market, choosing relevant keywords to focus on, and staying relevant with search and SEO rankings. Evergreen content is all about avoiding dated issues or subjects in the industry and turning a brand into not just a vendor, but a trusted source for knowledge and an industry leader.
