Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a tool that can be leveraged to advance careers in digital marketing with sensibility and proper use. With an understanding of the best practices outlined, AI can blend into processes fairly easily.


AI Digital Marketing Uses


While a bit of skepticism for new things is to be expected, taking time to learn where and how artificial intelligence applies in work, play, and society can bring an enlightened and well-rounded perspective.

Countless AI tools for writing and editing, design, campaign automation, and data analytics exist and have for a while. Using many of these tools myself, I attest to their usefulness in digital marketing, as long as used sensibly.

Writing and Editing Assistance

ChatGPT dominates AI dialogue in 2025, with good reason, as novel applications are being uncovered almost continually, such as its upgraded image feature that came out in May, as described in the 2025 Tech Crunch article by Kyle Wiggers. After initial denial and hesitancy, I've adopted ChatGPT as an assistant in my work. It's been especially useful in the ideation process and for expanding vocabulary that isn't always accessible off the cuff. It's helped me organize thoughts into a bare-bones blueprint for articles of many kinds, and all I had to do was build out from there. As a communicator and writer, I've tried out ChatGPT prompts personally and found that direct, descriptive, and simple commands work best. It's best to keep requests short whenever possible. A few examples of direct and simple commands include: "Provide ideas about a summary on the findings of Jane Doe and John Doe from their 1998 study," "Help correct this email to make it clear and professional," and "What are some good headlines for my blog about my favorite TV shows, Succession and The Crown?"


There are plenty more usages than writing and editing. As I mentioned about Grammarly in a previous blog about top 2025 marketing trends:

"Sometimes, I use Grammarly to double-check copy, and while it doesn't replace...a grasp of grammar and writing rules, it helps with the typos. While it may be easy to resist learning new technologies, AI can help marketers of all kinds streamline tasks and ease workloads on their teammates."

Importantly, ChatGPT and Grammarly can't completely replace a human touch, they serve merely in support of it. I won't recommend ChatGPT for writing essays and completing academic assignments, although I won't deny its uses in writing and work, either.

Design

Certain principles of design and branding are technical, this is where AI can shine in digital marketing. If a business requires a way to produce and manage flyers, logos, banners, templates, or other creative materials, tools including Canva have a suite of AI-powered options. Appealing options including the magic edit tool ensure a business's brand is sleek and consistent. AI opens up the world of digital marketing, making it accessible to those who aren't designers by education, as elaborated on by Carla Weis, Docusign VP of Brand and Creative, in a case study on Canva:

"I wanted to open the brand up to the entire company. No matter if you're in Sales, Customer Success, HR, or Sustainability, any team at Docusign can use the brand on Canva.”

Analytics and Campaign Automation

Mathematics in marketing isn't my main forte, and I'm sure many out there are the same, so support in the areas of analytics and technical automation is ideal. Hopefully, there'll be further exciting developments for campaign automation and analytical support with AI soon. Alas, it's part of the gig, and learning and growth continues.


Certain tools prove useful for campaign automation personally, including insights and explanations into the numbers, through tools like MailChimp, HootSuite, and Wix. MailChimp is an email marketing system, HootSuite focuses on social media automation, and Wix is a website host. Systems including these can pick up on crucial campaign details that a seasoned marketer may miss.


The best practice of AI analytical tools in digital marketing is utilization to identify areas businesses can take action. According to research, tools, including Tableau, HubSpot, and Power BI can automate data visualization and even make predictions for the future. It may be worthwhile to get to know tools like these for a flourishing career in digital marketing.
